Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026

notee is an AI note-taking app for iPhone. It records lectures and meetings, reads photos and PDFs, and pulls transcripts from links such as YouTube, then turns everything into clean, editable notes. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using notee you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier and basic profile details such as your name and email address (if you use Sign in with Apple's private relay, we only ever see the relay address). You can also use notee without signing in, in which case an anonymous identifier is assigned to your device to save your notes and subscription status.

1.2 Content you capture

To do its job, notee processes the material you add to your notes, including: audio recordings (lectures, meetings, voice memos), photos and images you take or import, documents you upload (such as PDFs), links you paste (such as YouTube URLs), text you type, and the notes, transcripts, summaries, and answers generated from them.

1.3 Subscription information

Purchases are handled by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (for example, whether notee Pro is active) but never your full payment-card details.

1.4 Device & usage data

We collect technical data such as app version, device model, language, basic in-app usage events, and crash/diagnostic logs, used to operate, secure, and improve the app.

2. How we use your information

3. AI processing of your content

To generate notes, transcripts, summaries, and answers, the content you capture (audio, images, document text, link transcripts, and your prompts) is transmitted securely and processed by AI models, including trusted third-party AI providers acting strictly as data processors on our behalf and under our instructions.

Your content is used only to produce the output you ask for and to operate the service. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, and our AI processors are contractually prohibited from using it to train their own models.

4. Storage and sync

Your notes and source files are stored on Firebase / Google Cloud infrastructure (hosted in the European Union region) and synced to the devices where you are signed in. Data in transit is protected with SSL/TLS.

5. Device permissions

notee asks for the following permissions only when you use the related feature:

You can change or revoke these permissions any time in your device settings.

6. How we share information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete any individual note, its attachments, or your entire account from within the app. When you delete your account we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Source files you upload are retained only as long as the note they belong to exists.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure cloud infrastructure, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and review our practices regularly.

9. Third-party services

10. Children's privacy

notee is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

11. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, which may have different data-protection laws. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in line with applicable law.

12. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases for processing are your consent and our legitimate interest in providing and improving notee. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, to delete, and to opt out of the sale of personal information — and we do not sell your data. To exercise any right, email privacy@ainotee.com.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date. Continued use of notee after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
